- Recognize that social media is the current and future media landscape
Key Lessons from Starting Content Creation
Lesson 1: Content Creates a 24/7 Working Asset
Content creation allows you to clone yourself digitally. Once you create a video, it lives forever in the algorithm, working for you constantly. It becomes digital real estate that continuously spreads your message. Even after taking a hiatus, your content can still generate income—as demonstrated by still making $100 a month from videos created years ago without adding new content.
Lesson 2: Everyone Starts as a Beginner
Don't compare yourself to established content creators like Mr. Beast. Remember that everyone struggles at first—just like when you first learned to ride a bike or play sports. The first videos will be difficult, and you'll feel nervous, but after making about 100 videos, it becomes easier. No one builds skills overnight; they're earned through practice and persistence.
Lesson 3: Share What You Already Know
Find your niche based on what you know best. If you're a chef, teach cooking; if you're a nurse, share medical insights; if you know how to drive, teach driving basics. What seems obvious to you isn't obvious to everyone—the "how to boil an egg" video on YouTube has billions of views. You can make content about virtually anything that you have knowledge about.
Lesson 4: Technology Has Removed Barriers
Modern tools make content creation accessible to everyone. AI can cut out awkward breaks in your speech, and platforms like HeyGen and 11 Labs allow you to create faceless content if you're camera shy. You can use AI avatars or voices to deliver your content, making it perfect from day one without having to appear on camera yourself.
Lesson 5: Social Media Is the New Media
Major figures like Elon Musk buying Twitter and Donald Trump creating his own social platform demonstrate the value and future of social media. Traditional news channels are declining while people increasingly want to get information from real people on platforms like X/Twitter and YouTube. Social media has become the new news station.
